If a person is interested in becoming an MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technician or also called as an MRI technologists or simply an MRI tech, the best way to start is by focusing on subjects like science and math in school. There are also specific classes to take like subjects on anatomy, microbiology, chemistry and physics. It is also a good idea to keep yourself aware with the basic medical terminologies being used. Once a person has completed and finished high school, there are a lot of two year associate degree programs in Radiologic Technology that are available in any local vocational schools and community colleges. It is important to make sure that the program you complete is from an educational institution that is properly accredited. There is a list of the accredited programs that can be obtained from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. This will help a person in looking for an accredited school that can equip them with the knowledge and skills that they needed. After getting a degree, a person must a one year MRI Technology Certificate which is really recommended. This will also present the person with the additional technical expertise, knowledge and skills and will allow them to focus specifically on MRI Technology.

What does an MRI Technician do? MRI technicians use a magnetic resonance imaging machine to get a picture of the internal organs and tissues within the body. The machine uses magnets and radio waves to create internal images of these tissues. Part of the MRI technician’s job is to make certain that the patient is positioned properly for the images to be taken. It is also their job to make sure that the images are taken correctly to be interpreted by the doctor. The MRI technician is also in charge of ensuring that the machines are working properly by doing maintenance tests.

A high school diploma or a GED is a must and a two year college degree is usually required by the employers, perhaps the variables on higher education be on here. There are also other educational programs that are available as well as that various range from a one year certificate to a bachelors degree. It is also helpful for MRI technicians to be caring and compassionate. They are always working with patients who may be nervous or anxious during the procedure. Sometimes the machines can be a source of stress especially to those people with claustrophobia. With all of these factors, it is very helpful for MRI technicians to be patient and show a strong interpersonal skill.

So how much does an MRI Technician make? The median annual salary for an MRI technician is $60,000 while some may earn between $55,000 and $64,000. The MRI technician’s salary can also vary depending on different factors like years of experience, the type and size of the employer as well as the geographic location where the MRI technician works.

Massage therapist is responsible in helping a person feel relaxed. They help in relieving stress and also improve the body by improving the circulation of blood by just simply doing a massage. Massage therapist mostly work wellness and spa centers. Some even prefer to be self employed and can provide services through appointments or home visits. The basic task of the massage therapist is to help the customer feel relaxed through massage.

Prior to any massage session, it is the role of the massage therapist to assess the client for any tissue, joint and muscle problems also including the range of motion of the person. Some needs to contact the physician to ask if doing a massage will be okay. Collaboration is important to ensure that the patient will benefit from it and doing a massage will not cause any harm. They will then create a treatment plan for the patient that also specifies the type of massage that will be beneficial. After identifying the problem, treatments and gathering all data, the massage therapist can now begin doing the massage session. The therapist prepares the room of the guest from sheets, robes and lighting scented candles. This massage is done by applying finger and hand pressure to specific points of the body especially in areas that are painful by using rubbing liquids like oil and lotion. The therapist will then apply these rubbing liquids to the skin of the patient and kneads the muscles. After the massage session, the massage therapist then completes the treatment record and notes down the prognosis after the treatment. Some spa centers provide or include complementary services like the use of dry heats, infrared lights or water therapy.

What are the things we need to consider if we want to pursue a career in massage therapy? A massage therapist needs to be patient, sensitive and concerned to the needs of the patients. They need also to have a good communication skill to keep the people around them comfortable. Look around and check out all massage therapy schools offering a program for this work. It is always best to choose an accredited school that can assure the students that they are getting the best quality of education. Next step is to think about your interest if a person wants to specialize on certain types of massage like Swedish, Shiatsu or etc. So that a person is sure that he or she is getting the great training. Massage therapy schools also offer programs that consist of both lectures and practicums. After completing all required hours and a person has already his or her associate degree, they are then required to take the licensure examination provided by the state. Some also chooses to have an advanced education and choose specializations to improve a person’s skill and knowledge.

Massage therapist salary may range from $15 to $20 an hour and might be different compared to EKG technician. An estimated yearly salary is $50,000 but this is still different for every massage therapists in different ways. If massage therapists owns the spa or the business then it will make them earn more. But, a part time massage therapist will earn a little less.

Hemodialysis is the process by which the blood is cleansed from dangerous toxins in the body such as urea, creatinine and excess fluid. The patient is hooked to a hemodialysis machine through an opening in his vein called a fistula. The process can take quite a while and there are many side effects that can occur if the patient is not monitored properly. This is where a person who has passed his dialysis technician training comes in. A dialysis technician ensures the patients safety while he is hooked to a dialysis machine. It takes great skill and patience in order to become a dialysis technician since it takes more than just knowledge to work in the clinical setting.

During the beginning of their shift, dialysis technicians check the instruments to make sure that everything is functioning well enough by means of surgical technology. They make sure that the area is clean and secure from any form of dust and debris as the patients they are tending to have a higher risk for infection than most patients. When the patient arrives, they explain the procedure and give information on how the machine works on the body. They also need to explain the possible side effects of the procedure. They initially take the patient’s vital signs so they have a baseline to compare on the succeeding vital signs and then hook the patient to the dialysis machine. The weight is also taken because most patient loose weight after the procedure.

Though many patients report minimal discomfort during the procedure, first time dialysis patients often suffer from severe lightheadedness which could complicate the procedure if left alone. In the dialysis technician training program, a person will be able to know what starts these complications and be able to intervene before such complications can get out of hand.

Once the procedure is done, the dialysis technician compares the initial lab findings with the current findings and reports these to the physician. He is also responsible for sterilizing all the equipment used during the procedure and ensure that the patient walks out of the clinic safely.

Some states require formal dialysis technician training, but other states allow inservice dialysis technician training. However, it is a good idea to enroll at a vocational school or community college because those who have graduated after formal schooling earn higher.

In order to enroll at a vocational school, you must be a high school graduate with a diploma or equivalent. Those who have high scores in math and science will often fare well in the training program. In training, aspiring dialysis technicians will learn all about anatomy and physiology, first aid, CPR, assessing a patient before during and after treatment.

Once you graduate from a dialysis technician training program, you will have to get an exam in order to earn your certificate and licensure. The holder of a certificate is much loved by employers because it means that he has passed the necessary requirements in order to become a dialysis technician.

Are you currently in a dilemma of looking for a career that’s exciting? Do you want to give your life meaning by helping other people? Do you want a job that pays really well to solve all of your money problems? Then worry no more. EKG technician careers are here to help you get the job that you have always wanted. And what’s even better is that this career path opens doors of greater opportunities just for you.

First, you would have to finish a two to four year course from your local college or university that offers medical Ekg technician training programs. The course should include trainings in either invasive or non-invasive vascular therapy. An associate degree for entry level employment is usually required from cardiovascular technologists. Other than completing the academic program, you should also have on-the-job trainings. Some employers will even require you to obtain a professional credential.

The first year is solely dedicated to core courses and the following years would be on specialized instruction in your chosen area – invasive cardiovascular, noninvasive cardiovascular or noninvasive cardiovascular technology. And for those who have completed allied healthcare profession, they are asked to finish the year of specialized instruction only. Cardiovascular technology educational programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Professionals. As of 2009, there are 168 accredited programs. If you attend any one of these programs, then you can get your professional certification.

If you are an EKG technician, you will be personally trained by your supervisor or a cardiologist. The on-the-job training will last for about four to six weeks. Employers prefer to train people who already have healthcare job experiences. Most of the EKG technicians are pursuing further studies to become a technologist. If you would like to perform Holter monitoring, your hands-on training may last for eighteen to twenty four months. There are also one year training programs about basic EKGs and Holter monitoring that may serve as a substitute for the hands-on training.

Credentialing is actually an option. You can be an EKG technician even without it. But you must remember that it is considered an edge with most of the employers. EKG graduates that have credentials have a better chance with employment. Most credentials will require you to finish an accredited education before you are qualified to take the credentialing examination. Pursuing further education is usually needed to maintain your certification.

Cardiovascular technicians and technologist must be apt and particular with details. You should be able to follow specific instructions and perform your duties well. You should also be good in dealing with people. Building rapport with patients will make them feel at ease and prepare them for the tests. You should also be knowledgeable about the procedures because you will be conversing with both the doctors and the patients.

EKG technician careers pay fairly well. The average salary for EKG technicians who have work experience for about one to four years can range from $10 to $16 per hour. EKG technicians who have more years of experience receive an average of $18 per hour. The salary is usually different due to factors like your skills and your employer. Annually you can earn as low $25,000 and as high as $65,000.

Instilling higher education in our youth seems to be what every classroom and teacher is all about usually from junior high through high school. Classes and courses are set up to get kids in the mindset that as soon as they graduate, college is next. While there is nothing wrong with attending a 4 year college or university, is it absolutely necessary for a successful career?

In todays society, there are many people who have made successful careers who are high school drop outs, while some college graduates work as waiters and bartenders because they cannot find jobs that they went to school to pursue.

There are now technical and vocational schools that give students hands on training for fast track careers. Fast track careers vary so much and can take a person in any number of directions. From technical degrees and certifications, to mechanical and art degrees. It is up to each individual to decide the career path they wish to follow.

The highlight of any technical career school program is definitely the career focused training that occurs. This allows for students to learn only the skills needed for the exact job or career they are pursuing. This in turn cuts the learning time in 1/2 or less in many cases, when compared to traditional college courses.

Technical programs such as x ray technicians, respiratory therapist, dental assistants, medical assistants, medical coding and billing, and surgical assistants are just a few of the many career fields you can become certified or registered in. The sky is the limit and the careers offer great benifts, pay and job security in most cases.

Fast Track Career Salaries

Did you know that the average diagnostic medical sonography salary can reach upwards of $35.00 per hour? With only a couple years of schooling, you can earn a degree and be making a great living. Medical employers will always be on the look out for qualified technicians who are trained through accredited technical, vocational or community schools.

Another growing fast track career that requires a higher education is that of radiology. Becoming a tech can be done in a few short years and the salary and benefits are great as well. The average starting radiology tech salary is around $30,000 per year, but can quickly grow upwards of $50,000 per year in little time with promotions and job responsibilities.

Some technical careers do not require formal training and can still pay a respectable salary. Physician and doctors offices will in some cases offer on the job training for assistant positions such as a medical assistant. In most cases you will need to have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, but the expected starting medical assistant salary is just under $20,000 per year. Not a bad starting salary for having no formal or furthered education or skills. This goes to dialysis technician salary as well.

Trade schools, in like manner offer career minded courses that focus solely on the job at hand. With hands on training that is sure to teach in ways that a book cant, will ensure that when you graduate you will be ready to start working right away.

So keep in mind that there are other options when it comes to higher education. College is not for everyone, and a technical or vocational school is definitely a great alternative. Most technical schools are broken into specialty courses and may only teach one specific course. X ray technician schools will often teach all forms of x ray technology. As well as to schools that molds MRI technician, they would really teach what MRI really is. As where an art school will teach all forms of art related career fields.
